Each Sunday at 9:30 am, we begin our worship experience with Prelude.

Each week is different but the purpose is the same; to give folks an opportunity to worship in creative, thoughtful and meaningful ways. I have had the opportunity to worship in wonderful ways; journaling, prayer, reading scripture, singing, listening, and just watching the images on the screen. It has been a refreshing time for me and has helped me as I move through the rest of the Sunday Celebration experience. This past Sunday an art station was set up on the dock with paints, markers, pencils, and drawing charcoal for anyone who wanted to grab paper and create a masterpiece of worship to Jesus. I took a seat at the drawing table and before I knew it I was joined by two little children. My first selfish thought was; ‘oh, I guess I have to put worship aside and put on my Children’s Pastor hat now’. Instead what God had planned was a magical worship moment for this silly ol’ Children’s Pastor!

These two sweet little children slipped into the chairs across from me and silently went to work. They each went straight to work on their worship art diligently and purposefully. I could see they each had a message their fingers needed to create for Jesus. The only sound I heard from them during our 15 minutes together was a whispered request to pass one of them the water to wash their brush. When the music was over and our time of Prelude was done, I asked if I could see their pictures.

They humbly showed me their masterpieces of worship and shared why they had drawn them.                         It was sweet, innocent and so touching! Thank you God for showing me the heart of worship in the life of a child. Thank you for allowing me to share space with these two little worshipers and to enjoy your presence in Prelude!
