Falling in Love with Jesus – Surrender

Imagine yourself, barely awake, drinking a cup of coffee (or tea for you unthinkable non-coffee drinkers!) in the morning.  For that precious moment, there is quiet.  You inhale the scent, close your eyes, and slowly sip your drink and in that moment you focus in on God.  In the stillness of your heart, something within your spirit asks, “Will your answer to Me always be ‘Yes’”?  Woo-waaaa.   A jolt stronger than any caffeine shoots through the veins.  Eyes pop wide open for a second and then they close again.  Good question.  Will my answer to God always be, “Yes”?  Hummm…. Perhaps if I go back to bed, the question will disappear?  Ha!  Who am I kidding?  Who do I think I am talking to?  A god who does my bidding?  No, this is my living and active God.  He is very loving, but not someone who will be ignored or disrespected.  He will not be mocked.

So, how about you?  Will your answer to God always be “Yes”?  No matter what He asks?  It’s not so much that God is immediately going to ask you to do something completely out of the ordinary, though it is not out of the realm of possibilities.  But, just simply, when He asks something of you, will you say, “Yes.”  The whole point is, it can be hundreds of different things He could ask – ordinary to extraordinary, but will your answer always be “Yes”?  Because you see, it is not so much about what He will ask of you, but rather the condition of your heart.

Does your heart love Jesus? (John 14:15 – If you love me, you will obey what I command.)

Does your heart trust Jesus? (Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.)

Does your heart recognize the voice of Jesus?  (John 10:27 – My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.)

Do these verses or the Bible, mean anything to you?  (James 1:22-24 – Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.)

Take a deep look at the condition of your heart.  Because you see, Jesus is not looking for pseudo- followers who think they are in love with Him.  He really is, so very much really is in love with you.  Are you in love with Him?

God asks, “Will your answer to Me always be ‘Yes’”?

What is your answer?
