Our Purpose and Plan
The PURPOSE of Fellowship of Oso Creek is to see lives transformed.
Spiritual transformation begins when we put our faith in Christ, and continues as we offer our lives to God as ‘good soil’ for Him to work in.
As this journey continues the trajectory of our lives take on a more and more of a ‘Kingdom’ orientation meaning that we are increasingly driven by seeing God’s will done on earth.
Here is the PLAN to focus our lives on becoming ‘good soil’:
A Growing Relationship with Christ – We all need to have personal and corporate communion with God. We worship together on Sunday mornings, but our journey is dependent upon continually ‘remaining in Christ.’ (John 15:1-8)
Living in Authentic Community – Throughout the week you will find Creekers meeting in Life Groups and Discipleship Groups (DG’s). That’s because God didn’t make us to live this life alone but with authentic, transparent connections. (Acts 2:42-47)
On Mission Across the Street and Around the World – It is in the living out of our faith that the world around us is transformed. We challenge everyone at Oso Creek to give themselves away both locally and globally. (Matthew 5:13-16)
Life groups are the heart and soul of Oso Creek.
Groups of 6 – 12 people meet together weekly, share life together, and discover the abundance of being
a follower of Jesus.
Why Life Groups? When Jesus walked the earth, relationships were the heartbeat of His life. He demonstrated His love through relationships. God has created us all for relationships. His plan is that His love will be demonstrated to the world as we love Him and love others. Life groups are the strategy God has given us to form and go deeper in relationships with those all around us. If we are going to be all that God intends us to be, we need each other. Life groups are where we find the ‘community’ that completes our lives.
What is a Life Group? Yes, life groups meet weekly, but they are so much more than a weekly meeting – a life group is a network of relationships. They are a group of people who continually care for one another, encourage each other, hang out together and reach out together to meet the needs of those around them.
What can I expect at a Life Group meeting?
Our life groups meet in home and offices at various times throughout the week. They are lead by accountants, construction workers, students, housewives –people just like you– whose heart is to fulfill God’s call to love those around them. Some of the groups discuss how to apply the message from Sunday’s Celebration in our lives and others focus on a thematic study. Groups also have time for worship, prayer, and fellowship. Childcare needs are addressed group-by-group.
