Women's Ministry

Women’s Ministry Team

Every woman is welcome to ANY of our events!!!

We have found faith in Christ Jesus or seeking to find a faith journey. We get together to share our lives together through Book Gatherings (aka Book Clubs), Bible discussions, movie nights, sharing a meal, or just to have some fun. Our ultimate purpose is to walk nearer to the Lord and we find that we often have fun doing it :)   We encourage everyone to be a part of a Life Group!  It’s just that sometimes, it’s fun to hang out with just the girls :)

Chic Lit

Chic Lit is a book gathering for women.  Each third Thursday of the month, we gather at Coffee Waves at 7:00pm to talk about the Book of the Month.  You can come to one or all three, depending on what your schedule allows.  Have the book read before coming to the gathering.  However, if you do not finish it all the way, but want to come for the discussion, please do! Guests of Creekers are welcome.  No children please.
Call Susan Klaus for more information or questions: 361-779-2046

June Chic Lit – June 17th
A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers
Fiction – 515 pages
Facilitator: Rachel Wranosky
A tale of a young girl, who battles against all odds to hold on to her Christian faith in the face of intense persecution.  The ruler of Rome is Vespasian, who like other leaders before him is impatient with any attempt to undermine the authority of Rome and its numerous gods. Hadassah, a young Christian lady is thrust into the furor that the colonizing power of Rome wroughts. She loses father, mother, brother and sister to the ravages of the war waged upon Rome. Hauled off with the rest of her people who are fortunate or unfortunate enough to survive the war, Hadassah is finally sold as a slave to the household of Decimus. During this journey, she clings to the belief that there is only one true God.

July Chic Lit – July 15th
Crazy Love by Francis Chan
Non-fiction – 186 pages
Facilitator: Susan Klaus
Crazy love.  God is crazy in love with you.  Irrationally, totally, implicitly, absolutely in love with you.  How about you?  Are you crazy in love with Him?  Irrationally, totally, implicitly, absolutely in love with Him?  Love is a two way commitment.  Most Christians would never intentionally have their relationship with God be a one way street, where God is in love with you, but you don’t reciprocate it.  God never fails at loving you with crazy love.  How are you reciprocating?  Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo?  God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself.  And once you encounter His love, you will never be the same. Because when you’re wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.

August Chic Lit – August 15th
Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore
Memoire – 257 pages
Facilitator: Hollie Shaub
Denver is a man raised under plantation-style slavery in Louisiana in the 1960s; a man who escaped, hopping a train to wander, homeless, for eighteen years on the streets of Dallas, Texas. Ron is an international arts dealer at home in a world of Armani-suited millionaires. And then their lives come together. As storms of life crashing in their lives, who will be saved, and who will be lost? What is God doing? This is a telling of pain and laughter, doubt and tears, dug out between the bondages of this earth and the free possibility of heaven. No reader will ever forget it.
