Creekers, We have new signage on the side of our building. You might have also noticed that the word ‘fellowship’ was not included. The name of this church has not changed. We are still Fellowship of Oso Creek. We are simply doing a ‘name shift’ to Oso Creek Church for a couple of very strategic reasons:

#1: We are a church, it is our purpose. We (the elders and staff) want the word church to be in our name. This is very important in the society & culture that we live in. Society has changed since the 25 years this church was founded. Being a church of the Lord Jesus Christ, His church, is our purpose. Being a church is our directive. Adding the word ‘church’ shows the world what we are more distinctly. This is to elevate the importance of church in this current culture and society. We tried Fellowship of Oso Creek church and it was simply too much for our sign.

#2: Oso Creek is our identity. We want to more align with the culture that is already here. We use terms such as: Creekers, creek brunch, creek notes, creek news, and the majority of people refer to this church simply as ‘Oso Creek’. Our local area is starting to align with this identifier as well: the new Del Mar College campus is being called the “Oso Creek Campus” and a new elementary school that will be built down the road form us will be called “Creekside” elementary. Oso Creek has been embedded into our identity and our culture and we want to be a reflection of what we are already ‘speaking’. This new shift also transitions better with our website address: osocreek.org.

#3: In this ‘new chapter’ of the history of this church, now is great time for a ‘re-shift’ in the focus and truly emphasize our purpose, our identity, and our culture in a very visible and tangible way.

You will start to see this branding on most areas of our church (social media, banners, posters, etc.). Please keep in mind that our church legal name is still Fellowship of Oso Creek, Oso Creek Church could be considered our ‘nickname’ 😊

PLEASE talk to me if you have any questions or concerns, I’m available to talk about this in more detail at any time ~~ Pastor Greg
